Still learning the ropes

Ok, so here I am on week 5 and have "only" lost 4.2 lbs. But you know what? I'm ok with that because I'm still learning the ropes of BFC and and really do feel much, much better overall! I know where my problems lie and now just need to combat them... I still am drinking more wine than what is recommended and I'm struggling with eating too many carbs still. I'm trying to adjust that and still get my fiber in. I have absolutely no issue with sugar. In fact, most days I only eat 5-8 grams of sugar a day!

My son's 14th birthday party was Friday night and I ordered pizza. I had 3 slices (I think... maybe 4) of pepperoni and for the rest of the night felt horrible!! My stomach was so inflammed and I felt like I ate the whole pizza! That made me realize that I am making progress, even though that stinkin' scale wasn't showing it.

Last night was his actual birthday. I did make him a cake and he wanted biscuits and gravy for dinner. I make the gravy with 1/2 sugar-free almond milk and 1/2 cow's milk. I didn't want to experiment too much with his birthday dinner. I made the biscuits smaller than usual and only had 1 with some of the sausage gravy and scrambled eggs. Not sure what the exact s/c totals were but they were much better than the way I used to make them. I had also kept my carb count down for breakfast and lunch. I did have a tiny piece of cake. I felt really good about my self-control last night and the fact that I really didn't crave, nor have been craving anything!! That's success!!!

To any of my followers (so far have none lol)... does anyone have recipes they can share? I like to get creative and use a lot of pesto but would love to expand my BFC recipe database.

My goal for April is to blog more... I need more accountablility!

  1. Hi Tami! I am going to follow your blog! I am just starting the BFC so I don't have any good recipes yet! Hopefully I will soon! I just turned 50
(yuck!) and I have really put on weight in the last 10 years!! I need to lose about 150lbs. That scares me but I am going to take it a step at a time! I have also tried weightwatchers but many times I used my points to eat unhealthy food. Sugar is a huge problem for me- I am really addicted. So I'm hopeful about this new way of eating! Good luck! I'll be reading your blog! Lisa

  2. Hi, I have been on the BFC for 9 1/2 weeks and am down 24lbs so far. I lost about 12 lbs in the first 2 wks and then nothing for a while. I think our bodies adjust and if we hang in there we will see it come off slowly. I too started a blog if you want to read: http://purplerosy.blogspot.com/
I will be your 2nd follower. Woo Hoo! Take care and friend me on FB if you want. We can chat about our progress. :-)

  4. FYI on the gravy - where the packaged powders are in the grocery store there is a gravy pack that you just mix 1 cup cold water - that is what I made with my country fried steaks! For sure not the good homemade kind, but it worked!
