Still learning the ropes

Ok, so here I am on week 5 and have "only" lost 4.2 lbs. But you know what? I'm ok with that because I'm still learning the ropes of BFC and and really do feel much, much better overall! I know where my problems lie and now just need to combat them... I still am drinking more wine than what is recommended and I'm struggling with eating too many carbs still. I'm trying to adjust that and still get my fiber in. I have absolutely no issue with sugar. In fact, most days I only eat 5-8 grams of sugar a day!

My son's 14th birthday party was Friday night and I ordered pizza. I had 3 slices (I think... maybe 4) of pepperoni and for the rest of the night felt horrible!! My stomach was so inflammed and I felt like I ate the whole pizza! That made me realize that I am making progress, even though that stinkin' scale wasn't showing it.

Last night was his actual birthday. I did make him a cake and he wanted biscuits and gravy for dinner. I make the gravy with 1/2 sugar-free almond milk and 1/2 cow's milk. I didn't want to experiment too much with his birthday dinner. I made the biscuits smaller than usual and only had 1 with some of the sausage gravy and scrambled eggs. Not sure what the exact s/c totals were but they were much better than the way I used to make them. I had also kept my carb count down for breakfast and lunch. I did have a tiny piece of cake. I felt really good about my self-control last night and the fact that I really didn't crave, nor have been craving anything!! That's success!!!

To any of my followers (so far have none lol)... does anyone have recipes they can share? I like to get creative and use a lot of pesto but would love to expand my BFC recipe database.

My goal for April is to blog more... I need more accountablility!

Week 2... still learning and adjusting

This week I only lost 1.8 lbs for a total of 3.4. I pretty much didn't expect a huge weight loss. Its probably too much wine and not enough fiber. I've been pretty good about drinking plenty of water although probably didn't have enough this weekend.

I made the best chicken last night! I marinated boneless skinless breasts in Caesar dressing then grilled it. I made a sauce with roasted red pepper pesto and feta cheese. I heated the pesto up in the microwave then folded in the feta so some of it melted but not all. Yummy!!! We grilled some asparagus and had some whole grain bread with roasted garlic.

Even though I'm not losing as quick as I had hoped, I have so much more energy.

Here's to a successful week 3!!

The beginning...

I'm finally ready to rid myself of all this extra weight forever! I started the BFC on March 3rd. My first week I lost 4 lbs. I'm now down to 182.4 as of Wednesday. Mondays will be my official weigh days. Below is my intro on the BFC for women over 40 group on facebook.

I'm very excited to start this program and end the dieting forever!!! It all makes so much sense and I love the fact I can still have my creamy sauces!! Whoohoo! I'll just need to be careful on my pasta portions. Here's my story... I'm 42, 5.5", 186.4 lbs and my waist is 36.5". My goal weight is between 145-155 It's been so long since I've been near those It's been so long since I've been near those numbers that I'll decide when I get close. I've yo-yo'd for the past 20 or so years. I've always been a very big eater with high metabolism but you know what happens with age... sucks! I did lose 35 lbs on Weight Watchers about 10 years ago. I was successful with that because I had friend who did it with me and we weighed in together. I was not about to let her win! :-) So some friendly competition really helps me. If anyone wants to have some sort of friendly competition, let me know!

In the fall, I let myself get to 192... yikes!!! That's the biggest I've ever been even 9 months pregnant! I was able to lose a few lbs since the first of the year because I put it on so fast but now am struggling to keep that going. I'm very active... I have a dog walking business and I'm also a dog trainer so am on my feet and moving most of the time. I'm so excited to see results! I weighed this morning, measured my waist and took a before pic... ick. I should be receiving my book this week from Amazon and I joined the menu's only program... this is my first day...
